I’m honestly speechless. I just finished watching Takopi’s Original Sin, and holy shit, that was intense. The whole series is a gut punch, and the first half—with Shizuka completely broken after losing her dog, Chappy—was just heartbreaking. The visuals are beyond amazing, and it’s already so damn emotional. This show is a masterpiece of sadness, and we still have so much more to talk about.
I loved how the creators made it only six episodes with a longer runtime (about 37 minutes each). That was a great decision from Studio Enishiya. I don’t know if I could handle watching this for a full season.
My Rant: The F*cking Adults Are the Problem
I hated Marina so much, I wanted to smash her head in. But then came the last scene, and now I get it. It’s the fucking adults. They are the problem!
I was so shocked by the ending, especially how Shizuka only felt joy after Takopi killed Marina… seriously, this show is so messed up (in a good way). I’m torn between “glad that bitch is dead” and “poor thing,” which just proves how amazing the story is. But if she couldn’t become a good person, I’m definitely glad that bitch is dead. Now the fact that Takopi can’t go back in time (apparently) is frightening.

I keep thinking about how Takopi represents the innocence and purity of a child, while Shizuka represents a lost childhood. She’s completely lost it. She’s trying to make sense of why she can’t find Chappy, and the first thing that comes to her mind is that those kids might have eaten her dog. Now she thinks she needs to cut them open to be sure. She’s absolutely terrifying at this point. And I knew that watch was going to matter! I just didn’t expect it to be used like that.
I was completely speechless at the part where Marina kills her mother in self-defense and starts believing that if she had killed Shizuka back in 4th grade, her life would’ve been better. Takopi hears this and decides that’s the solution to Marina’s problems, while Shizuka finally kills herself for good.

There’s no magical solution to life’s problems, and Takopi finally understood that. His sacrifice was heartbreaking, but it became the path to Shizuka and Marina’s salvation. Takopi may have done everything wrong, but he died for all of their sins. Bye Bye Takopi.
Top Quotes from Takopi’s Original Sin
The initiative to make this a short, six-episode series with a 37-minute runtime was a great decision, as it keeps the intensity high. These quotes show the intense emotion and brutal honesty of the series. For more great lines from shows, check out my TV series quotes section.
“…you don’t have to die anymore.”
Innocent Takopi says this, and it’s depressingly spooky. This line perfectly captures the dark and intense tone of the show, where a pure-hearted alien’s good intentions go horribly wrong.
“I’m not relieved that I’m the only one that has to die! Who am I kidding? I’m such a hypocrite!”
This quote expresses the very real struggle a character is facing to avoid becoming the very thing they so vehemently fight against. It shows us that there are no heroes, no villains, just broken people trying to do their best.
“You were always alone. And… so were you.”
This line is at the heart of the story. It shows the moment Shizuka and Marina finally realize how similar their lives are, despite everything. Empathy was built up for each other, and they finally became good friends.
“Prophecy is the fire within the bone.”
This quote shows us that destiny is a part of who you are. This line resonates like a ritual verse.
“You can’t take back the past, but you can forge a future from its embers.”
A beautiful line that reminds us that we can’t change the past, but we can learn from it and create a better future.

“I was given a name. Now I will choose my destiny.”
This quote shows us the beautiful character arc of one of the characters. It reminds us that we have the power to choose our own future.
“The past is a burden that we all must carry. But we are not meant to carry it alone.”
This line speaks to the emotional struggles of the characters, showing that even the strongest warriors need a community to support them.
“A war dog must be a ghost. You must move without leaving a trace, and you must strike without leaving a whisper.”
This quote is a great piece of dialogue that shows us the training and discipline of the War Dogs. It’s a cool line that really makes you feel the weight of their mission.
Why These Quotes Land So Hard
Takopi’s Original Sin is a gut-wrenching watch. It takes a cute art style and uses it to tell a story about child abuse, bullying, suicide, and the sheer helplessness of a creature trying to do good in a messed-up world. The anime adaptation is praised for its ability to explore these topics with a clinical stillness that forces you to sit with every unspoken thing.
The show is not a tragedy for shock value. It’s a heartbreaking story that breathes. Takopi isn’t rewarded, remembered, or even missed in the end, but he still chooses love, peace, and healing for others over his own existence. It’s a rare kind of selfless ending that’s executed with subtlety and honesty, and that’s what stays with you.

Final Rant & Call to Action
The worst part is that if Takopi hadn’t given her that tape gadget, she would’ve survived anyway. What a messed-up situation. So, in this timeline, Marina is still being abused by her mother and Shizuka survives her suicide attempt because the rope snaps. And, to no one’s surprise, that whole story about Shizuka’s father taking in Chappy was a complete lie. Man, that scene was heartbreaking, especially when Shizuka’s father pretended he didn’t even know her.
I can’t believe Azuma literally did the distracted boyfriend meme. But instead of being funny, it just makes everything even worse. What an impactful ending. Takopi has only six episodes and is becoming one of my favorite anime.
