Borderline (2025) Movie Short Review

OMG, ALBA BAPTISTA!!! 🔥😭🙌🏼 What a performance! What a voice! She absolutely stole the show, and I can see why she’s getting all the praise for this one. Seriously, she deserves every bit of it. But let’s talk about the movie itself… oh boy, where do I even begin?

Borderline (2025) Movie Review: A Missed Opportunity Despite Strong Performances

When I saw Samara Weaving’s name attached to Borderline, I was immediately interested. She’s one of those actresses who rarely disappoints, and I had high hopes for this one. But, wow… this was not what I expected at all. The concept sounded promising, but the execution? Not so much. It’s not a horror film like I initially thought—it’s more of a farcical comedy that just keeps getting more ridiculous as it goes along. And as the absurdity increases, it also stops being entertaining. By the end, I just felt like the movie overstayed its welcome.

Samara Weaving was great, as always. She brings such a strong presence to the screen, and honestly, she was the reason I kept watching. But even she couldn’t fully save this one. The film’s tone was all over the place, and the pacing felt stretched out for no real reason. It had its moments—there were some funny bits here and there—but nothing extraordinary. Just one of those movies you watch when there’s absolutely nothing else to do. 😅

And let’s not forget that moment—“Paul… Paul?” “Call me Paul.” What even was that?! 😂 It had me dying, but not in the way the filmmakers probably intended. This was definitely one of those “straight to digital” films that you instantly understand why it never hit theaters. It just didn’t have the impact needed for a cinematic release.

I have to say, I feel for Samara Weaving. She’s clearly trying to make a name for herself in the genre, but she needs better roles. Between this and Azrael, she hasn’t exactly missed the mark, but neither film is one that people will be talking about years down the line. She deserves better projects that truly showcase her talent.

And speaking of talent… not enough Alba. Seriously, there was just not enough of her. She was the best thing about this movie, and I found myself wishing she had more screen time. If there’s one reason to watch Borderline, it’s for her performance. Everything else? Meh.

Samara Weaving in Borderline (2025)

Overall, Borderline is a film that had potential but missed the mark. It’s a weird mix of horror elements and absurd comedy that just doesn’t quite work. Samara Weaving and Alba Baptista give strong performances, but even they can’t elevate the weak script and messy execution. Watch it for them, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
