Snoop Dogg recently responded to criticism for performing at an event celebrating Donald Trump’s inauguration ahead of his second term as president.
Once outspoken against Trump, Snoop upset many fans when he was announced as a performer for the Crypto Ball.
“It’s Sunday I got gospel in my heart,” Snoop said in an Instagram video after going live. “For all the hate I’m going to answer with love, I love too much.”
He added, “Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I’m cool. I’m together. Still a Black man. Still 100 percent Black. All out ’til you ball out or ’til you fall out.”
Snoop also opened up about dealing with the backlash following the performance while making an appearance on R&B Money Podcast.
Snoop wasn’t the only rapper performing at the event. Rick Ross and Soulja Boy were also there. Nelly performed at the Liberty Ball on January 20 to celebrate Trump’s return to the White House.
In 2018, Snoop had harsh words for Trump during an interview with DJ Suss One on SiriusXM. He criticized Kanye West for supporting Trump.
“I don’t give a fk. I tell ’em straight up, motherfucker. If you like that n*, you motherf****n’ racist. Fk you and fk him. Now what? He drew the lines. Before him, there were no lines. Everybody was everybody, we respected everything, we didn’t trip,” he said.
He continued, “When you drew the line and start pointing motherfuckers out and singling them out, fuck y’all then, n***. You and them. Kanye too. Don’t forget about him too. Fk you too. Throw him in the bag, he right with them motherf*ers.”
By January 2024, Snoop’s view of Trump seemed to change. In an interview with The Sunday Times, he spoke differently about the former president.
“Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me.”
This change came after Trump pardoned Death Row Records co-founder Michael Harris, who had spent 30 years in prison for drug charges.
“So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump,” Snoop said.
